Introduction to

My husband Dave and I arrived in Canada in 1971 completely oblivious of its dark history in terms of internments and seizure of property based, for the most part, on where a person was born. Until September 18, 2018, we had no idea that thirty years ago then Prime Minister Brian Mulroney began a series of acknowledgments of Canadian government wrong doing from the distant past and made a commitment to the people of Canada

“..and our solemn commitment and undertaking to Canadians of every origin that such violations will never again in this country be countenanced or repeated.”

Perhaps Dave and I are very naïve but we had thought when we applied for landed immigrant status that this commitment was already firmly in place and would be strongly and willingly enforced as per the Criminal Code of Canada whether called confiscation of property and internment or theft and forcible confinement.

Fast forward from 1988 to a Milton Downtown BIA debate for Milton Mayor and Ward 1 candidates which we attended on September 19, 2018. We will never forget the shocked look on community and candidate faces alike when one of the candidates revealed that while door knocking he had had a couple of conversations with local police officers around criminal activity being under reported.   One candidate exclaimed after I had brought attention to his statement and the purpose of this book “If this is true, then shame on us” as candidates and electorate alike nodded their heads in agreement.

Dave and I were at the debate because as a registered candidate for Halton Chair in the 2018 Ontario municipal election October 22, 2018, I was keen to learn the issues that affected one of the municipalities I wanted to serve.  Never, did I expect to hear one of the Milton issues was part of the reason this book is being written.  The book does not just deal with under reporting of criminal activity, however, it evidences over one hundred cases of reported well evidenced crimes against Halton residents that municipal, provincial and federal authorities including a Deputy Attorney General of Canada and the current Minister of Democratic Institutions have ignored. While the book tells the story this web-site will document the evidence so readers can see for themselves what the authorities have refused to investigate or prosecute.

Dave in particular has a stellar reputation for being right in terms of evidence of criminal activity he has put forward to Halton Regional Police that has led to prosecutions related to grow operations in the town of Oakville.   He then became the Crown witness used to bring the evidence before the Court.

It is bewildering, therefore, when the past two and current Chief of Police ignore our requests to investigate well evidenced criminal offences and Burlington and Oakville Mayors and Halton Chair are silent on the issues when presented with the evidence that has been given to those charged with serving and protecting the Halton community as part of Halton Regional Police Services or as elected officials responsible under the Municipal Act for the well-being of Halton residents.

Never again means never again.  We look forward to working with Caroline Mulroney, the daughter of the former Prime Minister.  We have no doubt after seeing her take up her first challenge on behalf of the people of Ontario just this week, she will do what is necessary to fulfill her father’s promise to the Canadian people.  We know our Ontario Attorney General will do what she has to do to ensure those responsible first for the illegal Halton activity and second for obstructing justice by denying access to evidence of criminal activity and then when access has been obtained by our persistence that it is our right to examine it, burying/ignoring it; are held to account exactly as rule of law requires them to be, no more, no less.
